MONTPELIER ON RT 12N. MOTHER FONTAINE FARM EGGS Freedom Range Our chickens are cared for by me, a farmer who has always had chickens. Our chickens have the ability to roam in a wide open space. When you consider the novelty of this approach you wonder why we do this, it’s because the reason is not to make huge profits but because it is good therapy. My husband died a year ago and I came to live with our son who had a few chickens. His friend suggested we add a few more so I would keep busy. After a year, it is working and we have over seventy chickens. So as long as I can get around , you will be assured these are the best kept chickens in the area and they are happy, which says a lot, because we have very good eggs. Our feed program is very expensive, but we do it. The chickens are fed with a wholesome diet, the shells of the egg are helped with a mixture of oyster shells. So you are getting a very good source of protein. Serving the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Montpelier Senior Center, Students of New England Culinary Institute, Friends and Family.
